

ACTING VICE-CHANCELLOR, GOMBE STATE UNIVERSITY
Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, born on 8th October 1974 in Malam Sidi, Gombe State, is a distinguished academic and administrator with a remarkable career in the field of education. A native of Kwami Local Government Area, Gombe State, he has been a driving force in educational development both within and beyond the university system. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Management and Finance from the University of Colombo (2015) and boasts academic qualifications from prestigious institutions such as the University of Maiduguri, University of Abuja, and Federal Polytechnic Mubi.
Over the years, Professor Yauta has made significant contributions to academia, having held several key administrative roles at Gombe State University, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) since 2021, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Deputy Dean and Head of the Department of Educational Foundations. He has also served as Director of General Studies and Deputy Provost at the College of Education, Billiri. His leadership and administrative skills are further demonstrated through his chairmanship of several university committees, including the University Senate Business Committee, Central Examination Committee, staff Development Committee, Gombe State University Ranking Committee, and the TETFUND Projects Commissioning Committee.
A prolific researcher, Professor Yauta has attracted various grants, including studies on teacher absenteeism in North-East Nigeria and the impact of emergency remote teaching post-COVID-19. His dedication to capacity building is evident in his involvement in numerous local and national training workshops for teachers, as well as his role as a consultant for international projects like the USAID SENSE initiative.
Professor Yauta is a fellow of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Corporate Administration, the Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management, and the Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators. His service to the academic community is further underscored by his membership in the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, the Nigerian Association of Education Planners and Administrators, and the Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration and Management.
