BRIEF HISTORY

The School of Postgraduate Studies was established pursuant to Section 7 (i) a of Gombe State University Law of 2004
The process for the establishment of the School commenced in the 2008/2009. The first School of Postgraduate Board was inaugurated on 30th July 2009. However, academic work began from 2012/2013 academic session with three programmes namely; M. A. History, M. Sc. Physics and PGDE. Subsequently other programmes were added in the 2014/2015 academic session. Currently it is running 68 programmes in the various Faculties and Departments.

Is to encourage and promote higher scholarship and academic research into all aspects of human endeavor for the advancement of society.

Mission

To train high quality manpower capable of coping with challenges of social economic, political, cultural and scientific development in Nigeria and beyond.

Philosophy

Philosophy of the School of Postgraduate Studies of Gombe State University is to establish conducive environment for creative and competitive enquiry and research of global standards and place the University in good international ranking.

Objective

The objectives of postgraduate Studies are to provide programme/courses relevant to the development needs of Nigerian and the world. To nature and promote the spirit and culture of enquiry and creativity for the benefit of humanity.
The studies also aim at opening the intellectual and scholarship horizon of students, as well as promote intensive and extensive qualitative research that could be deployed in addressing the problems of society in general.
