Head of SIWES Unit

Brief on Mandate of the Unit

  • To provide avenue for students in institution of higher learning to acquire industrial skills and experience in their course of study as well as to expose students to work methods and techniques in handling equipment and machinery that may not be available in their institutions.
  • To make the transition from school to the world of work easier and enhance student contact for later job placement It also provide students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge in real work situation there by bridging the gap between theory and practice.

Activities of the unit

  •  The major activities of the Directorate are
  •  Issuance of siwes registration forms to prospective 300L students.
  •  Issuance of scouting forms for siwes placement. Collection of logbooks from returning 400L students and its grading.
  •  Collection of placement forms and preparation of placement and master list.
  •  Vetting of logbooks; Master and Placement list and its submission to NUC and ITF.
  •  Orientation lecture and issuance of logbooks to fresh IT students.
  •  Organizing and conducting at least three Siwes Supervision to students in industries.
  •  Organizing and attending Quarterly zonal meetings of SIWES Directors of the Zone

Objectives of the unit

The unit has an objective of enlisting and strengthening of employer involvement in the entire educational process and prepare students for employment after graduation.
