Charles Zaure Sabe is an Associate Professor of Arts (English) Education. He received his B.Ed Language Arts from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, his M.Ed English from the University of Jos, and his PhD in Education/Curriculum English from the University of Maiduguri.
He is currently the Head of Department, Arts and Social Science Education, and Director Quality Assurance, Gombe State University.

The general admission requirements for all degree programmes in the Department of Arts and Social Science Education are as follow:
i. For admission through UTME into 100 level, candidates must have a satisfactory score in the JAMB/UTME examinations. Also, candidates must have at least five credits in relevant Senior School Certificate subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
ii. Candidates seeking admission through the University’s School of Basic and Remedial Studies must:
• satisfy the conditions in (2i) above (except that of the UTME scores which is to be substituted for at least a credit pass at the remedial level in at least two relevant subjects. Candidates are however required to write the JAMB UTME examination).

For admission into 100 level, candidates must have: i. a satisfactory score in JAMB UTME examination.
ii. at least five credits in relevant WAEC/NECO/NABTEB Senior School level Subjects or equivalent in relevant subjects including English language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings.

Applicants seeking admission into 100 level through the University’s School of Basic and Remedial Studies must satisfy all the conditions in A above.

Direct entry applicants must have:
i. five credit passes in relevant subjects including the English Language, and a pass in Mathematics at the SSCE level at not more than two sittings.

The table below provides the admission details specific to each undergraduate programme of the Department of Arts and Social Science Education:

To qualify for the award of BA (Ed.) or B.Sc. (Ed.) (Hons) degree of the University, candidates must satisfy the following conditions:
i. Must have been fully admitted for a degree programme in education in Arts or Social Science
ii. Must have been duly matriculated into the University.
iii. Must have paid all required fees and debts.
iv. Must have passed all prescribed core, electives and general (GENS) courses.
v. Must have earned a minimum Total Credit Units Earned (TCUE) of not less than 150 if admitted through UTME and 120 if admitted through Direct Entry.
vi. Must have a Cumulative Grade Points Average of not less than 1.50.
vii. Must not have stayed longer than the prescribed maximum period of study for the degree programme.
